Manufacturer: Crestridge Saddlery
Model: Sonata SR05
Category: Trail Saddles
Purchase: I purchased my Sonata SR05 from Crestridge Saddlery. I reviewed the saddle on their website, then had several phone and email conversations with Debra from Crestridge. She was very knowledgeable and helpful in fitting my hard-to-fit TWH. Of all the people, from "brick-and-morter" shops to online custom saddle makers, she seemed the most concerned with getting the right fit. I paid $525.00 for my saddle.
Likes: The silver rings (6 of them) look awesome and will be great for tying trail gear on the seat is so comfortable. I rode for 45 minutes the first day, and it has been a while since I've ridden but my seat was not a bit sore although my thighs knew they'd had some exercise! The Blevins buckles on the stirrups are something I wouldn't buy a saddle without. The very high cantle really gives security, and my instructor remarked that the seat appears deep and put me in a perfectly centered position. The stitching on the saddle seat is really beautiful. The light weight is a real treat to work with, and I'm sure my 18 year old horse appreciates it as well! .
Dislikes: There is not one thing I do not like about this saddle.
Quality: The pictures on their website don't do the saddles justice. I purchased the black Sonata, which is leather and synthetic 1000 denier Cordura. When the saddle arrived, I was so relieved that the cordura parts looked sleek and of very high quality. I've seen some cordura or nylon on saddles that just stands out and looks cheaply made, but not on the Sonata. The leather is of excellent quality and very supple. The pommel is nice and high, great for high withered horses. The saddle fitters at Crestridge do a wonderful job of fitting the angle of the bars to your horse. The saddle arrived in 4 days. They give you a 3 day trial, which may be extended on request.
Summary: It is wonderful when you find a saddlery that makes high quality products at such a reasonable price, which such expert advice. I can't wait to try their other products!
