Purchase: These gloves where purchased (along with my other riding gear) at Gift Horse saddlery for about twenty dollars. I bought them because my hands were always raw after a ride and I hoped these would make it better.
Likes: The inside of these gloves have a very nice feel to them and they fit the shape of my hand “like a glove” (ha!). The pig skin makes them incredibly soft and comfortable to use and my hands do not feel tired until I’ve been riding for hours and hours! It also combines the tough durability of leather with the soft flexibility of fabric. The back of the glove is a loose knit. It is stretchy and malleable allowing my hands to ball up without hindrance, but I believe it’s main job (and it does it well) is to provide extra insulation in the winter, while in the summer breezes can blow through and cool off the hands inside.
Dislikes: There are a couple of negative things to be considered about these. One being the color. I don’t personally show but for those of you that do these probably would not match any tack or gear you had. Now, don’t get me wrong. These are very flexible colors. They won’t stand out, they just won’t match. The other problem is more significant. They don’t grip especially well. Whenever I tighten the girth I have to take them off to do it because with them on I just can not get a grip on the cinch.
Quality: Seams are tight and well sewn. Leather is slippery but durable.
Summary: These are well made and comfortable but should not be used by people whose horses pull at the bit very much.
