Purchase: This helmet was bought at Gift Horse saddlery in 2001 so it is difficult to remember exactly how much it cost but I know it was within a twenty dollar range of one hundred dollars. I bought one because my instructor said to! Actually, we probably would not have gotten such a fancy one if the instructor had not said to get this one specifically (why she said that I really don’t know).
Likes: This helmet is good for anyone who desires to look good in a show and cool and comfortable at the same time. I do not see any ventilation holes but my head has never gotten hot while wearing this helmet even though it is black, and not only black, but black velvet.
Dislikes: This unit will have more negatives than positives from me because I don’t show! If all you do is stick it in a box and keep it on the shelf until you need it in a show, then it’s fine. But for me, I need something more. For instance, if you use this daily there’s bound to be a mistake somewhere; someone is bound to leave it upside down and in the morning there will be a large, nearly irreversibly flat spot on your expensive velvet top helmet. The word “expensive” in that last sentence is another draw back.
Quality: Well made except the black ribbon in the back; that has not stayed tacked on very well.
Summary: good for any one who likes to show.
