Manufacturer: Prestige Saddle
Model: Hunter Classic
Category: Jumping Saddles

Purchase: I purchased a Prestige Hunter Classic saddle from a tack shop in Malvern, PA.I have had this saddle for almost 9 years and paid $2600.00. I originally saw the Prestige at the Harrisburg National Horse Show. What caught my attention about the Prestige was how "Sticky" the leather felt. I had a trial demo at my stable and had a saddle custom made to fit my TB and me.

Likes: The Prestige is the most comfortable saddle I have ever sat in. It has always put me in a secure position whether we were jumping a 3'6" coop, climping up or down a very steep incline or traversing a ditch and raging waters.

Dislikes: After 2 years, I noticed my saddle was not looking good. I first noticed the leather peeling on all the rolled edges of the leather and the top "finish" of the leather was wearing away under the stirrup leathers and in the calf area on the panels.(I did purchase the very soft Prestige leathers and followed Prestiges recommended cleaning methods for the saddle)

Quality: The saddle construction, to my knowledge, is good. At the time of purchase, the overall quality appeared wonderful. However, my husband did comment on how fine the leather felt for a saddle.

Summary: I do not think this "Fine" leather is good if you are a fox hunter or do a lot of "non-ring" riding. I spent $2600.00 on a saddle that looks, today, like $200.00. For what I do, I will stay away from the "Fine" leather. I am sure this saddle will wear well for the occasional show ring rider who wants a good looking saddle. I wish the tack shop owner had better informed me of the wear-ability and perhaps would have steered me to an option of a heavier wearing leather for the panels or a different saddle. No harm done, will just need to purchase another saddle sooner than later......aesthetics is my only problem. I felt it has fit my horse well.
