Purchase: Was looking for a used saddle to fit my ever changing horses back. Switched from dressage to hunter/jumper and wanted to find something that was around $1000 used. Bought online from a classified.
Likes: I love the balance and quality of construction of this saddle. It fit my moderately high withered horse well, and was well balanced. I like the softness of the leather and how beautifully it's held up for an older saddle. I like how secure I feel in the saddle on the flat, especially on my spooky leaping monster of a horse. It's also much more comfy than my flatter than flat old Crosby.
Dislikes: I don't like the idea that it will wear faster if I ride in jeans. I know, a big no-no but it's something I have always done. Now I can't because I refuse to ruin a saddle this nice because I hate riding in breeches.
Otherwise, I'm very happy with the saddle.
Quality: The saddle is very well constructed, stitching, even on a saddle that is well used and older, is tight and all intact except for a small spot where the previous owners leg/leathers rubbed. The leather is impeccably soft and a beautiful rich color. Doesn't have the cheap "rubbed off" look that some saddles get, instead has darkened nicely with age.
Summary: I would buy this saddle again and again. Unfortunately new it is more $$$ than I make in a month, but finding it for less than half the price as a used saddle is still a great deal. Well worth the money, if only the snow would go away so I could do some grids!!
