Purchase: I bought this saddle from a local tack store. I paid about $1300 for it new 2 yrs ago. The saddle now retails for about $1700. I needed a new saddle for a very high withered horse.
Likes: This saddle is just terrific. I can pick it up w/ one hand. It is a mono-flap w/ 2 sets of dee rings securely attached so a variety of equipment can be used at once. The leather is a water resistant type that really holds up well. I have jumped different types of xc fences, and it really gives a secure feeling. Even when the horse throws a big or awkward jump, I am still securely in place. The leather shows only slight wear in the stirrup area.
Dislikes: The only thing that may be awkward is the very forward flap for pure flat work. I have a dressage saddle, so it's not an issue for me.
Quality: The leather is a nice dark brown color that took no breaking in. Stitching is tight. Nicely padded knee roll.
Summary: Just love this saddle. It fits a variety of horses well. The stirrup bars are recessed, so make sure flat stirrup buckles are used so there is no hump on your inner thigh. Don't be put off by the size. I have an 18" seat, and I'm not a big person. I'm not swimming in the seat at all. An overall great jumping saddle. My horse moves freely through the shoulder.
