Edelweiss NT De Luxe
Jumping Saddles

For Sale on eBay

Manufacturer: Stubben
Model: Edelweiss NT De Luxe
Category: Jumping Saddles

Purchase: The saddle has been bought new for 38000 CZK (approx. 1680 USD) and another 5000 CZK (220 USD) spent on later gullet exchange.

Likes: The made is fantastic. I've never seen saddle made so perfectly like this. The leather, stitching, cut - everything is second to none. Also the contactness of the saddle is unsurpassed, and jumping support by medium thigh rolls (triangle) and little (pencil) calf rolls is excellent.

Dislikes: The Stubben's gullet design is simply strange. I've seen many horses with quite standard back, at what it was impossible to fit a Stubben saddle, even with the widest (E) gullet. Also the rider's sitting point is too far back, placing the rider behind horse's centre of gravity - but this is common thing, related to german-styled saddles. The other thing I disliked is the way, how the shape of lower part of the cantle affects rider's legs - it's pulling them apart, turning the knee far from saddle - even with proper seat size. I think it could be unwanted feature of new Stubben NT tree, but most of Stubbens I've ridden in, did the same thing. Smaller rider with non-robust thighs can sit in quite well, but for any other rider, it will cause discomfort, incorrect positioning and insecurity, caused by unlocked knee.

Quality: As I wrote above, quality of used materials and workmanship are truly amazing. The lifetime warranty isn't there for nothing.

Summary: If the saddle fits your horse and you, you'll get the excellent jumping saddle, which will last forever. But for majority of the horses, none of Stubben gullets fitted correctly and resulted in down swept position. It's also easily possible that the saddle will not fit to your shape, although being common.
