Purchase: I bought this used on e-bay for $1,700.
Likes: I was taking a gamble buying this saddle without trying it
out first on e-bay, but because I have heard great things
about Prestige saddles, I took the chance and I'm glad I did.
It's a beautiful saddle, very well made and it puts me in
a good position. I feel like it helps me stay with my horse
and I'm not as prone to jump ahead of him. I've always
really liked the monoflap saddle design, but haven't been
able to afford the devoucoux chiberta or any of the other really expensive custom saddles. New the cost is comparable to these saddles, but I was lucky enough to get a good deal on this buying it used.
Dislikes: Well, they're expensive, but most of the better saddles are.
I did have a bit of a difficult time getting it to fit my horse.
The tree of the saddle was a 32 when I bought it. My horse
fits well into the Stubben 32, but Prestige sizing is different.
They tend to run a little narrower. I had to send this back to
La Sellier in New Jersey, where they adjusted the tree to a 33 for me. This is $300 which is kind of expensive, but
it's great that the saddles are adjustable, and you do
have this option.
Quality: This seems to be a beautifully made saddle the calfskin
leather is very nice and grippy. It's a very light weight
saddle and so far not problems with the construction or
quality, but I've only had this a few weeks.
Summary: This is a very high quality saddle, great to ride in
and very pretty. It puts you where you need to be
over the jumps and gives you a really great close
contact feel with the monoflap design. I use it for
eventing, and I feel very secure in it. The people
at Prestige who helped me with the tree adjustment
were great to work with and very helpful. I would
highly recommend this saddle to anyone who is looking
for this type of a monoflap design.
