Purchase: I bought this saddle on ebay for around $600.00 Cdn. My horse is an old style Arab gelding with a very wide back, and our local highly-qualified saddle fitter said he was the perfect candidate for a treeless saddle. I bought a treeless dressage saddle and then bought this trail saddle to keep my dressage saddle new (no break-in required on the treeless versions, just get on and ride).
Likes: The saddle arrived in mint condition, and is like riding in an easy chair. My horse also loves it and is no longer "girthy". It does not slip at all when I mount up and stays in position while riding. The saddle is also very light, which I like as I am not a feather-weight myself. It also makes it a breeze to tack up as opposed to hoisting up a heavy western saddle. My husband loves the huge advantage that one saddle would comfortably fit any of our horses; talk about economy! He's in the market for his own treeless at this time -- I won't give mine up when we go riding.
Dislikes: I have no complaints at all, just overall very pleased.
Quality: The construction is good and the fact that it is German-made gave me confidence from the moment I ordered it on ebay. The leather is lovely and soft. It has western style stirrup leathers and stirrups, which I'll eventually replace with English leathers and platform trail stirrups, but that's simply my own preference. Overall quality is not deluxe, but is good, especially when you consider the reasonable price.
Summary: I would highly recommend this saddle to anyone. Do your horse and yourself a favour and go treeless!
