Purchase: I bought it off Ebay for $20.95, including S/H.
Likes: It has a good weight and pull, no sharp edges, made of Stainless Steel, curved no-pinch, no-nutcracker bars.
Dislikes: I think it's good, but it's a racing bit, so I don't know if it is accepted in the show ring.
Quality: Very well made, but I got it new from a reputable dealer on Ebay (ironic, anyone?), but it's nicely put together.
Summary: Only use this if you know what you are getting into. A trainer told me to use it, but it is harsher than she said. DO NOT JERK ON THIS BIT! Your horse will probably want to get back at you. You need steady, soft hands with a quick tug, not a haul. Beginners should not use this bit. My mare is a hardheaded puller, so I thought it would do fine and it did for a while. She likes to play with the ring. Unfortunately, she is too smart for her own good. She went through a loose-ring in 2 rides, an eggbutt didn't last through a longeing session, so out of frustration, I put her in this. It lasted 4 months until she began to ignore it. For fear of her becoming hard-mouthed, I'm going to take her back to a D-ring in the spring. This is a good bit, but do not look on it as an easy way out of training.
