Purchase: I bought my saddle in a tack shop in
south louisiana About 4yrs ago. I bought the Romanus VSS for $2300 but this model is available in many other leathers including the Sigfried VSS for around $1700.
I special ordered mine with the Euro-jumping blocks in front and back.
Likes: I love the fact that this saddle is truly and all purpose saddle. It is deep enough to do dressage in-just drop your stirrup but is still forward enough to raise your irons to jump a sizeable fence or run cross country. Fitting your horse to this saddle is easy with the number of tree sizes
i think they go from 27 to 32 (i have a
31 that has fit almost everything i have put it on)
Dislikes: I like everything about this saddle.
The only thing I have ever heard in complaint about this saddle is that it
is hard. Well, It's a Saddle, not a Sofa!
Actually once you get it broken in, I find it very soft, especially if you upgrade to a nicer leather that breaks in faster.
Quality: I have owned several stubbens and have found that they last forever. You could probably leave them out in your yard for 6 months and it would be fine (ok, maybe that's an exaggeration) My last stubben I bought used and pd $800 for it. It was made about 30yrs ago and looked great. I rode in it for 3 yrs and then sold it for $850. They really hold their value!
Summary: Love this saddle! Balance, Fit, Comfort, Quality. I won't ever buy anything else.
