Purchase: They cost $80 on sale at, you guessed it (from the name, DUH! Who else sells Stormshields?), SCHNEIDERS!!!!!
Likes: It's a pretty nice blanket for the money. The purple is a light lavender, but the dirt doesn't stick to it much. The material is waterproof, but it isn't rough and shiny. I would say it's soft. It is super puffy from all the stuffing and very warm.
Dislikes: It has one tear. The mare wearing it ripped a six-inch down the withers where a back seam would be. It completely shredded, through the fleece padding and the binding. I don't think it was her fault because many horses nowadays are high-withered, so the blanket should have accommodated that, but when she moved, it tore. Considering that, the company should make that part reinforced since horses are meant to RUN, not just stand around all day! The blanket looks fine otherwise and she likes her cutback withers (the rest of us weren't as happy).
Quality: If it weren't for that, the turnout would be in perfect shape after a year or two. All the other parts are whole, there are no other holes, and it's still waterproofed.
Summary: I think it's a nice blanket, especially since it's less than $100. I've heard and seen a lot about Stormshields, most of it not too kind. It is a worthy blanket if you have a low-withered horse, spare blanket, don't mind having to eventually buy a new one, need one right then and there, don't care, know it'll get ripped anyway, etc.
