Purchase: Right now, it is on sale for $110 at Schneiders. I feel like I only use Schneiders blankets (maybe cause I've used 4 in 2 years), when I know I don't because I don't leave them on long enough to qualify since they are cheap and weirdly made. Weatherbeeta all the way!
Likes: It was really warm and soft. The design was pretty good (in the beginning) and it survived the season with a few snags and two small holes while outside.
Dislikes: Although it was very cold last year (days in mid 30s and nights in the teens) IT SWEATED OFF ALL OF MY HORSE'S WEIGHT!!!!! She got the same bucket as everyone else, but went from plump to ribby. It looked like she lost 200 pounds and her "humps" stuck out (chest to shoulders to withers to back to rump to hock). I barely noticed until spring because of how gradual it was. Plus, it said it didn't rub hair and she had hair missing on her chest, shoulder, flank, and hindquarters. It even rubbed the hair off her front legs. All of her was full of short, dull, rough hair. Her summer coat came in normal, though. I would have been nervous if I showed.
Quality: It is a great blanket. The material is strong and doesn't fray. The stitching is good. Has nice back seam, free withers, deep cut, wide bellyband.
Summary: There are three ways to use this blanket:
(a) completely clip your horse's blanketed body
(b) use it only in the barn so you'll remember to take it off frequently
(c) put a lycra body guard under it, like Jammies, Sleazys, etc...
if you don't do these, you better hope show season starts late so your horse can grow its coat back and that State Line hasn't sold out of Show Sheen.
