Purchase: I bought this bridle for my boyfriend as a birthday gift. He needed a new bridle as his old one was getting worn out. I paid approximately $100.00 Cdn for this bridle, through Apple Saddlery, which includes matching reins and the choice of either a V-browband or a knotted browband (I chose the V-brow). The reins have chicago screw ends.
Likes: Gorgeous bridle. Tight, even stitching. Consistent leather colour (black) throughout with a high gloss finish. Amazingly enough, the high gloss finish hasn't cracked through multiple uses in various weather conditions - with a light oiling, it looks brand new. The chicago screws have a tiny design on them... classy looking.
The catalogue I ordered the bridle from says "5/8" double stitched, hand edged and finished leather headstalls. Nickel hardware. Complete with matching reins. Dark brown, tan or black".
Dislikes: Nothing really. I'd get this bridle again - only for my own horse this time.
The one thing I wasn't all that happy about (but it's not a huge deal) is that some of the chicago screws had different sized slots... the actual screws were all uniform, but the slots where you put a screwdriver bit in to tighten or loosen them weren't consistent. I had to find a smaller screwdriver for some of them.
Quality: Absolutely gorgeous bridle. Top of the line construction for what I think is a really reasonable price considering the reins were included. I find that with a lot of bridles you've got to buy the reins separate. This works out well for people who prefer a specific type of rein, but I wanted the complete package as a birthday gift.
Summary: Great bridle. I have recommended this one to my friends. Too bad the manufacturers website doesn't reflect the quality of their work.
