Purchase: Bought for $40 at Four Winds Tack Store in Ft. Collins, CO
Likes: Easy to clean, fits snug, horse seems to like it! Lightweight and can hose it off if it gets muddy.
Dislikes: Nothing. Price perhaps is high for synthetic, but compared to leather, a bargain.
Quality: Construction is excellent. Stitching is all secure and no loose ends. Great attention to detail. I think this will be longer lasting than leather since I don't get to clean tack too often.
Summary: I was really hesitant to switch from leather to synthetic. Once I made the switch from an ill-fitting Crosby leather saddle to a Wintec 2000 saddle, I fell in love with riding again. It seemed the right thing to do was to add a Wintec girth. I couldn't decide between the original elastic girth and the chafeless Wintec (shaped) girth. The excellent help at Four Winds Tack Store steered me to the elastic one for two reasons: price; and less likely to chafe. I had read reviews that the straight (elastic) girth slipped backwards. It was pointed out to me that if any girth slides backwards, that means the saddle is placed too far forward, and the shaped girths are for those riders who like to put the saddle forward on the withers and then cinch up the girth right behind the elbows. THIS IS THE WRONG POSITION FOR THE SADDLE/GIRTH! So it makes sense to choose the straight girth if saddle and girth are positioned correctly (4 fingers behind the horse's elbow)! My horse loves it and I love it!
