Purchase: I purchased this saddle sight unseen over the internet from a distributor in Arizona. I had tried two different treeless saddles before finding the Solstice for my hard to fit Half Arab mare. I paid $1795 for a demo about 1.5 years ago.
Likes: This saddle is made of buffalo, not cow hide. It has a very secure feeling, is well balanced, and is extremely comfortable even when riding 40-50 miles per day. It fits my horse well and the company provides great customer service.
Dislikes: I cannot think of anything negative to say about this saddle. The saddle includes numerous d-rings but a few more would be good.
Quality: The leather and craftsmanship on the saddle is impeccable. I measured my horses withers using a flexi-curve, faxed the tracing to an ASC representative who then mailed a saddle to me to try for 10 days. I knew after the first ride that I loved the saddle. The saddle has wool reactor panels which took about 2 weeks to settle. Once settled, the saddle fits my horse perfectly. My horse and I love this saddle.
Summary: The Solstice is not a cheap saddle; however, the quality, fit and comfort of this saddle cannot be beat. If you are looking for an English type endurance saddle, look no further. The saddle gives the feeling of a dressage saddle, but stands up to the rigors of endurance riding.
