Manufacturer: Ansur Treeless Saddle
Model: Classic
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: I purchased this saddle from my trainer, a local distributor for Ansur. I bought the Ansur after having witnessed a transformation of several horses when switching from treed saddles to the answer. I paid $1850 for the saddle in 2002.

Likes: The saddle fits my horse well. I noticed immediate improvement in both relaxation and forwardness in my horse the first time I put an Ansur on his back. The leather is soft and I have had no problems of any kind with this saddle after 4 years of consistent use.

Dislikes: When I first began riding in this saddle, I felt insecure and felt my feet were too far back. This feeling soon went away once I transitioned to the feel of a treeless versus a treed saddle. This saddle is not for the novice rider as the rider cannot rely on a tree for balance. Once the rider adjusts, this is a wonderful saddle that actually improves your balance.

Quality: I have used my Ansur mostly for dressage (show and schooling) with an occasionally trail ride. After 4 years of use, I have had no problems. I simply clean the saddle periodically and store it with a dust cover. The leather is soft and pliable, but I don't think the craftsmanship on this saddle is as good as that of County or Arabian Saddle Company.

Summary: Both my horses and I love this saddle. It is not for the beginning rider or green broke horse as there is less stability due to lack of tree. However, the saddle greatly improves a rider's balance, is extremely comfortable and fits a multitude of horses.
