Purchase: In December my veterinarian gave my mare a drug overdose. She was foundered. In a short period of time her coffin bones rotated. The farrier I was using took the sole off her foot. You could see the tips of the coffin bones. She began to abscess. Both her front feet split 2 1/2 inches across the bottom of her feet. We were putting socks on her to help protect her feet from getting dirt in them. We started using the Davis boots that clamp on but they started hurting her feet at the bulb. My brother has horses and he had the Davis Boots that have the horse shoe on the bottom of them. He sent them to me to see if it would help my mare to walk. We tried them. The boots pulled her off the ground so the coffin bones were no longer touching the ground. She has been able to do some walking out and about now. You still have to be careful that they don't come off. But we have a size larger on her so the feet will keep growing out. I am going to order her the right size soon because her feet are almost the right size now. She wears them almost all day and night. They do not wear sores on her. Thank God for that. We live in the HOT desert. She has worn these all summer. I do put her out in her sand pile to eat on the hay stack and stand in the sand. This is the only time her shoes are off.
Likes: I like the fact my mare can walk using these boots. I believe it is the shoe on the bottom that helps her be off the ground and no pressure on the coffin bone area.
Dislikes: Because of the larger size we have the boots twist on her foot when we are out walking.
Quality: These boots I think are made of a rubber material.
Summary: My thoughts. Thank you Davis Boots for helping my mare to walk again. I don't know where I would be if my brother wouldn't have sent me these boots.
