Purchase: I bought the horselyx original (blue container) at a nearby tack shop for around £10, though i have seen them £2-£3 cheaper :( I bought it as my mare is stabled more often than not so it would keep her entertained in the day and give her a break from the hay.

Likes: The horse obviously finds it quite yummy judging by the brown nose she acquires by the morning (usually white), they cannot 'bite' through the lick unlike likits. It easily comes out of its plastic container and can be put into something bigger/deeper like a bucket (i recommend 'Tubtrugs' as they are very hard to break). The lick also lasts a while especially if you buy the 15kg tub. It can be used outdoors or indoors as it is weatherproof (very handy when she empties a mouthful of water from the trough into the bucket). Don't worry if you have a white muzzled horse or worried that the lick might stain walls/floors etc as it is easy to wipe up and doesn't stain.

Dislikes: I couldn't leave the plastic container in her stable for more than 30 seconds because the first thing she did was step on it and cut her lip on the cracked plastic!! It can take a while for the lick to level out in a bucket ( 2 weeks next to a radiator for me)and if it doesn't level flat in the bucket bedding and feces may get down the sides of the bucket ( very messy!!)

Quality: The lick itself can only be licked which is practical and lasts longer but the 5kg refill tub may not be safe for horses that are prone to destroying anything that contains food to get at it.

Summary: For any horse that is stabled day and/or night and easily gets bored of standing still or eating just hay then i would recommend this lick. Unlike likits they won't crumble or break easily and last much longer.
