Purchase: I bought this helmet new at a local tack shop for around $55. I was just getting into horses and needed to pick up an inexpensive, schooling helmet.
Likes: I liked the fact that the size of the helmet was adjustable. It made sharing a helmet no problem whatsoever, due to the fact that...it fit anyone!
Dislikes: The fact that the helmet was adjustable meant that there was no padding inside the helmet, so it would give me a splitting headache when I rode! There was nothing but the bare shell of the helmet sitting on top of my head, where with other helmets I've tried, there is something to absorb the shock of the helmet shell hitting the top of your head every time you sit the trot!
Quality: I do have to admit that it did its job. I eventually fell off a runaway horse and ended up smashing the helmet, but my life was saved. However, aside from that incident, I remain unimpressed. It made my head look like a mushroom when I rode due to the fact that it wasn't streamlined and finished like a lot of other helmets available.
Summary: While it works great for safety purposes, the Lidlocker is an extremely uncomfortable helmet for everyday use.
