Purchase: Bought new in 2000 from sales shop in PA for $770 shipped.
Likes: I like the style, though I don't rope, its a fabulous trail & training saddle. Its substantial and sturdy and stays put. Low cantle is easy to get on & off. Brushed suede seat is like velcro to jeans.
It never got squeaky or creaky, even after being out in the rain.
I like that its a complete custom job for under a $grand. I bought it for my hard to fit mustang: mutton withers & back that's as wide as it is short. I wanted square skirts, but couldn't find one that didn't rub his hips. Dakota built my saddle to fit, even customized the seat cushioning & tooling to my taste and to the color of my buckskin.
Dislikes: This isn't a fancy saddle, most of the cuts and finishing is a little on the cheaper side, most of the tooling/stamping is a little uneven or askew, but its much better than anything else I've seen for the price. Leather doesn't discolor evenly - there are splashes and spots and streaks - you can see where its been. Latigo was cheaper cut of leather, has a huge weak spot running across it, but after 7 years it hasn't broken.
Quality: Decent hard-working saddle. I've got thousands of miles on it on many horses. Not tired after a long day riding. Leather has held up, so has the stitching, seat, horn, etc. Its been dunked under water, out in rain/snow storms, been laid down on in the mud by horses.
Summary: For the money, this is an excellent working saddle. If this one ever wears out, I'll buy another one.
