Purchase: I saw this book at a Chapters retail store and couldn't pass it up. It was approximately $15.00 Cdn without tax.
Hold Your Horses is by Bonnie Timmons.
It's like a comic book for horse lovers, though appropriate for any age. I hadn't seen anything like this before, and just browsing through it at the store, I was laughing so hard I had to buy it.
Likes: Each page is full of little drawings, cartoon style, about horses. It ranges from seeing your first horse as a little girl, to learning to ride, caring for your horse and showing.
It covers all the usually frustrating things (like learning to post the trot, or jump) in a light-hearted manner.
Dislikes: Nothing really. I do wish Bonnie would come up with another book like this, but maybe it's in the works...
Quality: A cute little book. It brought a smile to my sisters face, who isn't exactly horsey, but tries.
Softcover book with a neat ribbed cover.
Summary: Bonnie had an awesome idea and ran with it, poking fun at everything she could with great illustrations to back it up.
I wouldn't hesitate to give this book as a gift.
