Purchase: I needed a buy a flash for my mare as my schooling bridle didn't come with one. I tried the regular flash attachment (that has a buckle on it) but wasn't too impressed. I decided to pick up the Chetak european loose flash to match my Chetak bridle. It attaches without a buckle. I got it from Victoria Feeds - Horse & Hound in Lindsay, Ontario for approximately $15.00 (without tax).

Likes: It's a really neat design that looks much cleaner then the buckled flash. It also fits tighter to my bridles noseband, pretty much eliminating any slipping that can happen with the other flash. The leather is really nice and seems to be even better quality then my bridle, even though they're both made by the same company.

Dislikes: There's not much I could complain about. I'm glad someone came up with this design. I've heard of the leather piece that attaches to the noseband breaking before, but I'd imagine that it would take a lot for that to happen (either being neglected, or from lots of use). To find the attachment piece (which looks kind of like a dog bone shape when it's unfolded) by itself is pretty hard. If you can find it, they're around $8.00 (not including shipping if you'd need it shipped). With that price, it would be easier to buy the complete flash locally or make your own with a scrap of leather.

Quality: As I said, the leather is really nice and seems to be even better quality then my bridle, even though they're both made by the same company. Despite being slobbered on, it oils up easily and looks really nice afterwards.

Summary: I don't see myself needing to buy another one of these for a long time, especially since mine gets limited use (flash nosebands are not allowed in the hunter ring). If I needed to get another though, I'd probably stick with this brand. I haven't had a problem with it yet..
