Easy Entry Pleasure Cart
Horse Miscellaneous
Manufacturer: Greenhawk
Model: Easy Entry Pleasure Cart
Category: Horse Miscellaneous
Purchase: My boyfriend wanted to start driving his horse because he thought it would be easier on his back (he's got a bad back from an industrial accident).
I got him a harness for Christmas and his sister bought him a cart. It comes in 4 different sizes.. she bought the largest (Horse).
The Greenhawk Easy Entry Pleasure Cart has a catalogue price of $599.00 Cdn without taxes or freight. It goes on sale for around $400 from time to time.
Likes: The cart fits his mare, a 15.2hh Belgian / QH, properly. It's not all that heavy and she can easily pull it with 2 adults on board.
The wheels are really nice quality. They almost look like bicycle tires, only they're designed with proper bearings (both inner and outer). They're high pressure / low volume tires made to withstand the terrain one might cover while driving.
My boyfriend loves how easy to grease the bearings are, which will stop them from seizing with use.
The expanded metal flooring offers lots of foot room, and the cart, when put together looks sharp.
Greenhawk says: comfortable 2 seater, strong rugged design, heavy duty wheels, steel shafts, vinyl seat, expanded metal floor & single tree.
Dislikes: Some of the welding could be much better. Some of the support bars are only half welded on which leaves a few sharp edges.
This can be fixed if you've got a welder at home or can get a mobile welder. It wouldn't cost much, but it is an inconvenience..
The seat should have a support under it (so it doesn't sag under the weight of a driver, which it does a little) and the backrest should be higher. It's fairly low and thin, not offering much support.
My boyfriend wanted to suggest that they raise the horse sized cart slightly, so the shafts would be more in line with the size of horse the cart would fit.
Quality: I pretty much said it all above (in dislikes).
It's an okay cart, but the manufacturers do have a few things to improve upon.
Overall though, it was fairly simple to put together (the boxes included directions) and turned out okay.
With the proper fixes (ie: finishing off the welding), it's a great pleasure cart and can even go into the low level show ring.
Summary: A good cart, but with paying so much money, it would be nice not to have to do anything.
Looks like it should last a while though..
