Purchase: Bought a custom-sized pair of rubber field boots for $150 CAN in 2002 from a local tack shop.
Likes: They fit like gloves and were super-comfortable with a thick lining. Even on hot, humid days they didn't feel too hot or sticky. The rubber was good quality and scratch resistant.
The lining only started to show wear in 2006 after long seasons of everyday riding, and there are minor scratches now that have dulled the black sheen. They still have no holes or leaks anywhere.
Dislikes: The boots are worthless once the lining gives out, except maybe for really wet rainy days. Other than that, the only thing lacking is that they're rubber, not leather.
Quality: Excellent. Custom-fitted meant they were a perfect fit from day one. The lining was thick and strong and wisked away moisture. when polished with a bit of oil (such as World Champion Pepi) or with a Swiffer Cloth, they gleamed and looked very sharp. After four years of riding, they only in the last year began to really show their use.
Summary: A great choice for young riders who want a comfortable boot for all-weather riding, or for riders who need a boot to stand up to hard riding. Looks great in the local show ring, or even AA-rated shows. A really good long-term investment.
