Purchase: Double Creek Saddlery is located 35 miles from home. I was able to get saddle fit and built to my specs along with all accessories that I wanted. I trail ride Ky, Tenn and hunt in mountains of Colorado. Long hours in saddle and very rough terrain put rider, horse and tack to the test. Test rode a Miller that a friend had bought, 15 minutes into ride was all it took.$800 for saddle, bridle, tail crupper, chest girth, saddle bags and rifle scabbard. High quality tack for your dollar.
Likes: Quality craftsmanship and materials, with a willingness to build a saddle and accessories to my specs, reasonable delivery time, and a great price made this saddle purchase AWESOME!!! Saddle fits my quarter horse perfect, rigging is all stainless, high quality leather, stress points are beefed up. Leather components were pretreated before assembly of saddle-no squeaks!Bridle, tail crupper, chest strap, front and rear girth, saddle bags and rifle scabbard were same color as saddle, fit and finish were perfect. Suspended seat is the most comfortable ride of any saddle I have owned. Seat leather is soft, yet hold you tight, bucking rolls keep you from slipping forward in saddle during steep descents.
Dislikes: Nothing at all, just hated to put saddle into use because of the normal scratches and dings that occur when using a saddle in my normal riding areas.
Quality: Quality from start to finish. Stress points beefed up for extreme service. All grade 8 stainless fasteners-no tin plate or painted steel! High quality leather, components are in alignment, pretreated before assembly, all edges are rounded and smooth-no raw leather exposed. Tree is made by enclosing pressure laminated plywood with fiberglass. Tree is stable with no chance of moisture entering. Finished saddle was treated and oiled before shipment.
Summary: If you are looking for a truly custom built saddle at very reasonable prices, Double Creek Saddlery is the place. Top quality craftsmanship, materials and a willingness to design and build a saddle to my specs have made me a customer for life.
