Purchase: I bought it online from www.rideaway.co.uk for £82.60 (larger size). I purchased it for BE affiliated eventing, for the XC phase as my old skull hat was looking a tad manky! I also wanted a hat which did not move on my head (J3 has harness which extends to nape of neck) as my last one had a habit of going down over my eyes if my horse did a big jump down banks!
Likes: Its the most tidy and minimal looking of the new PAS hats. I always feel they look very mushroomy on your head! But this one is the lowest profile so looks best. The harness extends to the nape of your neck so the hat stays very secure and doesnt move about which can be off-putting when galloping round a XC course! The harness itself is made from leather which is very soft and comfortable. The hat has been very comfortable and light to wear. It also keeps my head quite cool. It also comes free with a matt black silk.
Dislikes: There was nothing I really dislike about this hat, although it could possibly have had some ventilation holes like some other hats nowadays however it did keep me cool so maybe there is no need. I didnt like tha fact that I had to pay more just because I had a bigger head! (sizes 0-1 cost £70.30 whereas I paid £12.30 more for my size 2 head!).
Quality: It was constructed very well. It felt very safe yet also really lightweight and comfortable. The quality is superb, as you would expect for this price. You can tell the quality by how well made and soft the harness was etc.
Summary: I think this is the best skull hat I have come across. It fits well and is very comfortable, secure and safe. I would recommend it to anyone. It is a tad expensive but worth it.
