Purchase: I bought it online at www.rideaway.co.uk for £28.62. I bought it as my horse is quite sensitive in his back and can sometimes buck if there isnt a thick pad under the saddle. I bought this mainly for use at BE eventing competitions for the XC phase as I felt a really thick pad would be most comfortable for him.
Likes: It looked well made and was a nice fit under the saddle when I first put it on. It washed quite well too (I chose the white colour). There was cotton towelling material under the flaps which seemed nice and absorbent when my horse sweated. The padding on top was very thick yet not too bulky.
Dislikes: I was surprised the "close contact panels" (under the saddle flaps) simply consisted of no padding, just normal thickness. It might have felt a bit odd on the horse to have a really thick pad on top with no padding suddenly down the sides.
I did find one major problem with this pad in that it its meant to not slip without any straps, but it did slip! very badly! Once I was on and working in, the pad seemed to slip right back and eventually actually disapeared under the saddle flaps! It may have just been the fit of my saddle or something, but either way it did not do its job as I couldnt use it, especially for XC as it would have disappeared half way round!!
Quality: It was well constructed and the stitching and shaping was good etc. However it did need straps as it did slip back.
Summary: Probably ok on some horses, I think the fact that my horse was narrow with a narrowish saddle, maybe made the pad slip back. It might fit fine on other types. However I would try to borrow one first before buying in case it does slip with yours too. No point in a saddle cloth which slips about and makes it very uncomfortable for the horse and very irritating for you! Personally I am going to buy the Polypads "Pod" which hopefully wont slip about.
