Purchase: My Pessoa saddle was purchased new from Horse World USA in 2000. Although I purchased this saddle several years ago, the tack shop willingly provided several other saddles to try on my horses. The cost was approximately $1600, but I believe the price has increased since my purchase.
Likes: This saddle has been used on approximately 20 horses over the last several years and has fit every single horse, with the help of pad adjustments and accessories. I have also been very pleased with the way the saddle leather has worn. With the exception of normal wear, the saddle still looks beautiful when cleaned and polished. I have not had any problems with splitting leather or excessive wear, and the saddle has been used 3-10 rides weekly since its purchase.
Dislikes: I really have no complaints about this saddle. I have heard comments that the leather used on the newer versions is somehow different that the leather used when I purchased the saddle, and that is certainly something I would actively investigate before purchasing another Pessoa AO.
Quality: The leather and the tree have had no issues in 7 years. I feel it is very well constructed and of very good quality.
Summary: I feel the Pessoa AO is an excellent saddle at a fair price, although I would look into leather quality on any AO I purchased at this time. The saddle is versatile and can be used easily in both hunter/jumper avenues. I would certainly purchase an AO to replace my current saddle.
