Purchase: I've got a few nylon lead ropes around the barn, but I prefer cotton leads for trailering purposes. They're easier to tie to the trailer when you reach your destination and tie more securely then nylon. I paid approximately $10.00 per rope, without taxes and these were on sale. Regularly, they're approximately $17.00 from Greenhawk locations.

Likes: These ropes are a lot kinder on your hands should a horse spook and pull when you're leading him or her. They won't peel a layer of skin off, as nylon ropes are known to do. They're also a good length for leading or tying - not short enough that you run out of rope when you need it, and not long enough that you're tripping over it.

Dislikes: The brass snap looks nice, but I'd really prefer silver. It's more of a personal preference though. I'd also caution buyers about checking the lead thoroughly before they buy it. Because the strands are woven around each other, if anything is loose (and it comes undone) it's toast. It unravels like the ball of yarn you just dropped!

Quality: Good quality, but make sure you inspect it before you buy. There are several knock-off versions of this lead rope that are thinner, which means they're probably not that strong. Make sure the rope you buy is thick and all the weaving is tight.

Summary: I'd get this lead rope again.. my hands are thankful!
