Purchase: I bought this saddle with matching leathers at a local tack shop in 2005 for about $1300. It was on sale for 30% off since weatherbeeta had bought Crosby and was discontinuing the XL line. It was the only saddle I could find that had the knee block placed high enough that it did not force my knees off the saddle.
Likes: This is the most comfortable saddle I have ridden in except for the french saddles which cost about three times the price. The padding on the knees and seat is extremely soft. Even though the padding at the knees is thicker than I would like, it is soft enough to be easily compressed when riding. In addition, this saddle puts me in the correct position for both jumping and flatwork and doesn't push me too far forward like people have reported about the XL H.
Dislikes: Since it is an equitation saddle the flaps are unusually long and although I have very long legs I would prefer the flaps to be an inch shorter so that I could have more contact with the horse.
Quality: It was very easy to break in and only occasional oilings keep it looking fantastic, the stitching has remained completely tight and the whole saddle has darkened to a rich chocolate brown with the padding a slightly lighter shade.
Summary: Overall this is an excellent saddle and you cannot get better quality without paying about three times the price.
