Purchase: I bought this saddle from State Line Tack for about $499.00
Likes: I really like the caramel color! This saddle looks like it is made of leather unless you get really close and start handling it. No worries about riding in the rain. It is great for anyone who is a bit lazy about cleaning and oiling their saddle. A quick wipe down with a wet rag and it's ready for show! The interchangeable gullet is great and I like the CAIR panels. After a reasonable working session, my horse's back is dry under the panels. They seem to help keep his back muscles cool and have some give to help absorb concussion. I also like the recessed stirrup bars. The billet straps are good and sturdy, as is the rest of this saddle.
Dislikes: The cloth like material under the flap tends to hold dirt. I do wish the panels were a little further apart to allow the horse's spine more room to bend without the panel (and the rider's weight) sitting on top of it. I also do not like how far forward the stirrup bar is, but that is a flaw with so many saddles. When doing flat work, I am often fighting to keep my leg under me. The pommel could be a little higher as well, this would help in keeping the pelvis tilted forward so one does not have to fight one's position too much. Of course, for jumping and riding with a forward seat, the saddle is fine, which I suppose is what the saddle is built for.
Quality: Excellent quality of construction and materials. The materials and craftsmanship of these saddles has come a long way from the old synthetics. This saddle holds up very well.
Summary: All things considered, a good saddle for the money. I would rather put this saddle on my horse than some of the other close contact saddles I have seen that cost 2-3 times as much.
