Model: Dressage Saddle with Movable Thigh Block
Category: Dressage Saddles
Purchase: After trying 10-12 dressage saddles and finding they all rubbed me raw, i was starting to think, that's it... I'll never ride dressage again. Out of habit, i check ebay daily for some "miracle" dressage saddle that might just look comfy enough to let me ride without pain. Then i saw it. A WOW brand saddle. I went to the WOW company website and researched it. All the incredible features, EXTRA padded seat, the way it sits you "around" the twist not slamming down into it, how adjustable it was (i have 3 very distinctly different built horses...) Little things down to how the flap can adjust an inch forward or backward, the stirrup leathers had two different settings one forward one back a little, i could buy jumping flaps down the road and quickly change my dressage saddle to a jumping saddle with just removing 4 screws! The way the saddle has a "Y" shaped tree that moves with the horse laterally, allowing a better connection and feel thru the movements... I was simply in love and drooling at the thought of owning one. I lucked out, went back to ebay, and did a buy it now on a dark Havana WOW for $1200... Which is a miracle i tell you what, because they retail for 2800, and are next to impossible to find used in the states as we found later when 3 of my friends have now bought them too after sitting in mine!
Likes: EVERYTHING! I can ride for hours and not be sore. It sits you so uniquely different than any other dressage saddle out there that i can feel so much more. I can truly fit it to any horse as the WOW gullets are made with a different shape than the crappy wintec ones. I always feel secure, even when my horse might be bounding all over the place. I have ditched my western trail saddle and ONLY ride in this, everywhere i go! I like that it has Flair panels that i can adjust myself with the special air pump, i feel flair is much more comfortable for the horse than traditional wool, foam, or even cair panels that i have heard break down over time. My horses are so much more willing to lift in their backs! All of my horses who have been working consistently for a while now, within two month, have went thru at least one gullet size from building up their backs so well. NEVER have i had that happen in any other saddle! Words can not express all the things i LOVE about this saddle!
Dislikes: Mine is now 3yrs old. Its heavier than most dressage saddles. BUT, my friend has a brand new one that is not so heavy. So i believe they have already altered this issue. If you get an older one, be prepared for it to weigh more than your traditional dressage saddle.
Quality: The leather is WONDERFUL, construction is perfect... There are no flaws with my WOW or any of my friends that i have seen. This is a very HIGH CLASS saddle and built like much more expensively made brands.
Summary: If you are in pain when you ride, if you're horse isn't happy to work and come up in his back, if you are looking for something that will work for you up thru all the levels and beyond in the jumping ring, for endurance, an all purpose saddle... Get a wow, because you can get different flaps to do it all! You will never regret it!
