Purchase: I purchased this saddle from Valencia Sport Saddlery in CA. I paid $895.00 for it. I needed a saddle that better fit my slightly dippy backed horse. I was riding in a cushy seated Tucker saddle but it dug into his back so I wanted to get into an English saddle.
Likes: I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to find a seat that was as comfortable as the Tucker and tried several different saddles. When I tried the Stamford I couldn't believe how soft and cushy it was. Important for someone my age (mid 50s with slight back problems). I think it's more comfortable than my other saddle and it's also a very well made saddle for the price...great quality leather and well balanced.
Dislikes: If I had anything negative to say it would be that I wish the saddle had come in other color choices,(I really wanted a black saddle), it only comes in Newmarket.
Quality: I was told by some people to stay away from Argentine made saddles because of the leather quality. The Beval is made very well with high quality leather. The seat and knee rolls are soft and the saddle has an already broken-in feel. My instructor told me I made a great choice and she has shown my saddle to others at the barn.
Summary: This is an affordable saddle and the quality is as good as other more expensive saddles that I've tried. All in all, I'm thrilled with my new saddle and my horse loves it too!
