Model: Spirit Schooling Helmet with GPS 2
Category: English Miscellaneous
Purchase: I bought this helmet from a local tack shop nearly a year ago for about 40 dollars. I had a troxel helmet before, but it no longer fit, and I was tired of using one my trainer's old helmets.
Likes: The dial fit system is easy to use, and pads in the front, back, left, and right sides make it easy to customize the helmet to your head shape. The quality is amazing for the price (better than some $100 helmets) and I know others agree, because about half of the other girls at my stable have the spirit as well. There's plenty of room for a ponytail. Velcro under the visor is like new, probably because I never take the visor off.
Dislikes: Like others have said, it scratches easily. They aren't easily visible, but knowing they're there bugs me. I purchased it in the periwinkle color, and that only seems to emphasize the fact it's a schooling helmet. Velvet covers don't fit very well over it, and they make the vents look weird and obvious. The length doesn't easily allow for a hair net. I used to ride in an international show helmet, which was much more comfortable than this, but four times the cost.
Quality: I think the quality is great. It's amazing for a schooling helmet, but I would invest in an IRH if shows are big with you instead.
Summary: It works easily and very well, and I would suggest it to nearly anyone. Periwinkle color is a no-no, and velvet covers don't fit well.
