Purchase: My old bedding fork broke so I picked this one up from Greenhawk in Mississauga, Ontario for approximately $14.00 Cdn on sale, without taxes. The catalogue price is $24.95
Likes: This is a pretty good bedding fork and has held up good so far. We store it outside, without cover, and so far the lacquered handle hasn't peeled or discoloured.
The tines are somewhat flexible, and haven't broken yet despite a lot of stall mucking.
Dislikes: The tines are ABS plastic, but I think they could've been a little thicker. I find that they spread apart easily when I'm mucking stalls and when I've got a 'fork full' of manure, spreaded tines means that everything gets dumped on the floor again.
I also wish that the sides were a little higher. This is a relatively flat fork so once you start sifting the bedding, the load starts to drop off - and I'm being gentle!
Quality: ABS head with 17 tines. You've got the option of buying just the bedding fork tines or the whole thing (tines + the handle).
Summary: This is a good bedding fork, but a few improvements would make it great.
I certainly wouldn't pay $25.00 for this though - at that price, an extra $5.00 would've gotten me the cage style bedding forks (with very high sides).
