Purchase: Paid $599 from Rick's Heritage Saddlery in PA (2005) I purchased this saddle when I bought a new horse that my previous saddle did not fit.
Likes: I didn't want to spend a lot of money since I already owned a very nice saddle (Harry Dabbs/Jaguar CC saddle). I went to Rick's, which has a huge selection of new and used saddles. I compared this side-to-side with a prestige saddle and a Pessoa which both looked similar. The quality of the Toulouse was comparable at about 1/3 of the price. I was amazed. I was slightly concerned that the leather seemed too soft and that it would show wear really easily, but it still looks like it's in mint condition, 2 years later. The medium tree is a great fit for most horses I ride. I'm average height/weight (5'5" and a size 10) and the 17" seat fits me perfectly. I like that the saddle required NO break-in time due to being soft, but it's reinforced in the right places so it doesn't show wear. The leather has just the right amount of "stickiness" too, so I don't find myself slipping as I have with other saddles (namely my old stubben). I have no complaints, would buy this again and would recommend it to any rider. A well-built saddle at a great price. I'm not sure what the current price is, but I said when I bought it that I'd be surprised if they stayed this cheap once people caught on to what a great deal they were.
Dislikes: No dislikes. It's a quality saddle at an extremely competitive price.
Quality: Soft leather with just the right grip, reinforced with thicker leather at the bottom of the flap to reduce wear. Top stitched on the flaps as well to increase durability.
Summary: I would recommend this saddle to anyone, from beginners on up. I show mostly local jumpers and eventing, but this saddle would not be out of place in the hunter ring either.
Usefulness Rating: 2.5 out of 5.
