Farnam
Nature's Defense
Fly Control
Manufacturer: Farnam
Model: Nature's Defense
Category: Fly Control
Purchase: I bought a bottle of concentrated Nature's Defense at Con-Tack in Rhinebeck NY. I believe I paid roughly sixteen dollars.
Likes: Nature's defense smells very fresh, with a bit of a citrus zip to it. It mixes well from a concentrate and does not leave a sticky film on the horse.
Dislikes: Sadly, Nature's Defense doesn't work very well. At the reccommended ratio of concentrate to water, it makes little to no difference in repelling flies. At higher concentrations it works ok. It is about two thirds as effective as chemical sprays.
Quality: Nature's defense is an all natural blend of citronella and other botanicals.
Summary: This is a great product in high concentrations. It just means it works out to be more expensive than conventional sprays. I continue to use it on my horse, as I applaud the lack of residue, but I mix it strong!
