Purchase: I got this saddle cover for free when I purchased a saddle package. The whole package came from Apple Saddlery in Ottawa, Ontario. I've seen similar covers sell for around $10 - $15 Cdn so I'll use that as my estimate.

Likes: The lightweight 100% twill cotton is breathable, which means the tack I store underneath it won't mold. The elastic that snugs the cover around the saddle is also very strong.

Dislikes: When I hand washed the cover (with cold water & mild soap), the black dye started coming out. With multiple rinses in the sink, the water was still coming out dark. I'm not all that worried as I use it on a Wintec saddle that won't pick up stains, but if someone had a leather saddle which might be damp (ie: from getting stuck in the rain, or from sweat), I'd be worried that the dye would stain the saddle. While I like how strong the elastic is in the cover, I think they could've done fine with lengthening it a little. The saddle I'm storing is only a 16.5" and when I put the cover on it (usually for around 3 weeks at a time), it bends the flaps backwards a great deal. Again, I'm not all that worried as the saddles flaps quickly reshape once I ride, but after repeated use on a new saddle, it might end up creasing the flaps the wrong way.

Quality: Strong stitching around the cover and through the middle seam. Black 100% twill cotton with strong elastic around and the Apple Saddlery logo printed on either side of the cover.

Summary: It's a good, strong saddle cover but one that I don't use on my regular saddle - it's on a schooling saddle and does the job fine. With a few minor improvements, it would be great.
