Purchase: I did a lot of research before buying boots for my gelding, who is very tenderfooted on rocks. I had looked at Old Macs, Easy boots, and these German made Marquis boots. I was all set to buy the Marquis, but after looking at the expense and reading some great reviews on the Boa's I decided to try them. I was able to get them online for $147.50 including shipping and the gaitors thrown in.

Likes: The first time I put them on my gelding I just let him go out in the pasture for about 4 hours to get used to them. He took a few funny steps but that was about it, ten minutes later he was trotting around happily. I rode the next day and was a little nervous about cantering, I got off and checked them for tightness before we took off, but they had not loosened at all. We did about 5 short canters and the boots never budged. They are very easy to put on and take off, and my gelding really seems to like them. I would recommend getting the gaitors as they do fill up with sand and dirt, even with the gaitors on, but I don't think with any boot there's a way around that. He has not had any chafing with these boots (had heard the Old Macs had that problem). We rode in the southern Kettle for about three hours this weekend on really rocky trails and they held up great.

Dislikes: There's not a lot I can find fault with in these, I am still experimenting with the gaitors to try and keep more sand and dirt out. I would make the drain holes a little larger.

Quality: Excellent. The dial to tighten and loosen the boots is extremely easy to use, and they even throw in extra covers in case you lose one.

Summary: I would recommend these to anyone who wants to avoid putting shoes on, they are a great alternative.
