Purchase: I bought all three products together (the tack cleaner, conditioner and sponge) as a cleaning set at a recent tack care clinic.
It came highly recommended by the presenters.
It was put on by Victoria Feeds - The Horse & Hound in Lindsay, Ontario. Usually this kit sells for $20.00 Cdn plus tax. As a special sale, I bought it for $15.00 without tax.
Likes: I've never used these products before, so I went out on a limb buying this. I still had my usual supply of tack cleaning products at home so I didn't need to stock up. I was very impressed with what the clinic presenters had to say about it though, so figured I'd chance it.
Wow - I really wish I had bought these (either separately, though the kit is nice) a lot sooner.
As soon as you open the package, there's a leather information / tack cleaning booklet - in full colour! It provides a ton of information on how leather is made, the different types of leathers, how to treat various problems. On the other side is information about the specific products offered in the package.
I love that both bottles (cleaner and conditioner) are numbered to make them foolproof. #1 is the cleaner, of course. After you use that, you move on to #2, the conditioner.
Each bottle is 500ml and you don't need to use a lot of product, so they'll last a long time. Each has a light scent which is pleasant.
The cleaner makes it a snap to remove crud from tack, whether it be horse goober, mud, sweat.. anything. You just spray it on, wait a minute, and then wipe it off. It's that simple! (I feel like I just voiced an infomercial, but I'm serious). This stuff is absolutely amazing!
Dislikes: Nothing. I like the idea of buying a kit instead of separate products.. though if the kit is not available when I need to replenish my supplies, I will absolutely buy the separate products.
Quality: A complete tack cleaning kit.. it comes with a leather information / tack cleaning booklet, sponge, tack cleaner and tack conditioner. The spray heads have a seal on them so you know they haven't been tampered with (you just break them off before you use them). I'm very impressed with how this kit was put together.
Summary: This should be on your list of 'must haves' for the barn.
I will definitely buy this again, and recommend it to whoever needs an awesome tack cleaner and conditioner.
I see that this company also makes Glycerine Leather & Saddle Soap Wipes (perfect for shows). I'll pick a pack of those up at my next visit to the tack store.. very handy!
