Manufacturer: Ruiz Diaz
Model: Anky Mark 3 Dressage Saddle
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: We bought ours from Bonnett's Saddlery in Adelaide, south Australia. Retail was around $2,800 Australian. we got a very good deal, including some mounts.

Likes: This saddle allows me to keep my leg close to the horse. The rider's knee is supported by soft comfortable padding, but there is no thick padding actually under it (unlike an expensive German saddle that I tried). The balance is good, I can keep my legs under me easily. It really assists me with my riding. The seat is very comfortable and shock absorbing- it has a spring tree. It has a nice wide channel and the extended panels to distribute weight- very comfortable for the horse. I liked mine so much that my husband tried one too. After test riding in some more expensive saddles, he still preferred this one, and bought it- he loves it. His horse is very comfortable with it too- had had back problems with a previous saddle with too narrow a channel at the back. The saddle gives the rider a lovely secure feel, (important for an older rider) and the leather has a 'grippy' quality. We are both very happy with our Ankys :-)

Dislikes: Nothing

Quality: Quality of the leather and the finish isn't quite as beautiful as a couple of German saddles that we tried- however these were _much_ more expensive, over $4,000. ours have the alligator like print leather on the flaps and this might not be a favourite with everyone, but it is nice and grippy. It does come in smooth leather if preferred.

Summary: This is an excellent saddle at a very reasonable price. We preferred it over other more expensive ones for comfort and balance. We were prepared to pay more-within reason that is ;-) but still chose this one.
