Purchase: I don't really like the open style grooming boxes because of how much dirt they collect, but I needed something to store all of my grooming items in.
For $22.00 Cdn plus taxes, I got the RubberMaid tool box which doubles as a mounting block. It comes with a removable tray inside for smaller items.
I picked it up from Home Hardware in Minden, Ontario.
Likes: Typical of RubberMaid products, this box is sturdy and has held up well after years of use.
I don't use the removable tray, but even with it installed, there's plenty of room inside.
I can store a ton of grooming supplies in there with space left over. Right now I'm storing 3 shedding blades, 1 large dandy brush, 1 medium dandy brush, 1 face brush, 2 large rubber curries, 2 hoof picks, 1 pair of scissors & 1 pair of thinning shears, 1 pulling comb, 1 mane comb and 1 tail comb.. During the summer and fall I also keep a big container of hoof oil and a brush in there as well.
I love that this doubles as a mounting block, too. The horses I ride aren't huge, but I'm pretty short, so I appreciate all the help I can get!
The top of the box is also roughed up so it's not slippery when it gets wet or muddy.
Dislikes: I can't think of anything I'd change!
Quality: A decent sized plastic tool box ideal as a grooming tote and mounting block. It comes with 1 removable tray. Has a strong plastic handle and plastic closure.
Despite lots of use over the years, nothing has broken.
Just a quick wipe down with a general purpose cleaner gets this looking almost like new!
Summary: If this can stand the test of our horses, who play with the box when it's out in the field (knocking it over, pawing at it, etc) it's a winner in my books!
