Purchase: As I ride english, having a boot jack to pull my tall leather boots off is essential (after all, the strong arms of hubby aren't always around!).
I picked this one up from Twice Around Tack in Uxbridge, Ontario for around $6.00 Cdn.
Likes: For a plastic boot jack, this one is really sturdy.
The biggest test was when I yanked on a pair of almost-too-small dress boots, rode around for a few minutes and realized that the circulation in my legs was slowing going away! I ended the ride sooner then I usually do and stuck my foot between the arms of the boot jack.
I'm glad I was alone in the room because I must've looked pretty comical, hopping around and then hanging onto the wall for dear life as I yanked, wrenched and prayed for the darn boots to come off.
The jack didn't break.
It didn't get my boots off either (hubby came in from the garage and helped), but most importantly, it did not break despite my frantic attempts at removing the boots myself!
Other then that, there's a little strip of rubber between the jack arms to grip your boot. It really helps.
Dislikes: Nothing.
Quality: Really tough plastic with a little rubber strip between the arms of the boot jack to help hold your boot firmly in place while you pull it off.
Summary: A great boot jack.
Never again will I try to fit into such a tight pair of boots, but for normal use, this is a great product.
I'd be worried about wooden jacks as the wood can dry out, or rot, and break. Plastic is the way to go!
