Category: Roping Saddles
Purchase: I purchased this saddle from an add in Western Horseman after being referred by a friend. My friend is a full time working cowboy and he has friends who use this saddle and he was very impressed. I purchased the saddle back in 2005 for about $650.00 with bucking rolls and mule hide wrapped horn. It was shipped immediately and arrived the next day ( which surprised me because I was expecting it to take another day).
Likes: I have rode the saddle for two years now picking up day work on my weekends. It sits so comfortable for me like a rocking chair. When I am in the saddle for six to eight hours it feels good. I have roped some pretty heavy cows and pulled them into a trailer and the saddle has held up well. I am one of the regular cowboys on a local week long cattle drive that we use to promote our rodeo every year. Last year we had about four of the wagons could not make it up some of the hills so we attached ropes and dallied up. Our horses were able to help them up the hill. After all that long pulling to one side of my horse he was ready to go the next day and has never been sore backed.
Dislikes: The stirrups were cheep plastic covered in leather. I know that they need to cut costs somewhere and that is probably a great place because most people I ride with replace them anyway. I put on 5" monel stirrups because they are comfortable for all day rides.
Quality: I must admit that I am very impressed with the tooling on my saddle. I have a half breed that is tooled in oak leaf. In all reality I only bought the saddle to work in and the looks really were not an issue but it does catch attention.
Summary: I only part time cowboy but I do have a couple hundred hours in this saddle and I truly like this saddle. It fits all of my horses well and it takes a beating. Other than the occasional ranch rodeo I am not a competitive roper. But for a good comfortable all day work saddle Corriente fits my bill.
