Trail Saddles

Manufacturer: Tucker
Model: Equitation Endurance
Category: Trail Saddles

Purchase: I purchased this saddle through a dealer at Equifest in Wichita, KS. My friends told me about the reputation and comfort of Tucker saddles, so I decided to give one a try. I paid $1400 for the saddle and headstall.

Likes: It's comfortable to sit in.

Dislikes: It does not fit my horse at all. I put it on his back and immediately could tell it wasn't going to work. The trees don't just run small, they're made weird. On each side of the withers, the tree pinches inward and then flares out. With the rigging barely tightened, I could barely squeeze my hand through, but the flap immediately below wasn't even touching his body. It looked incredibly painful, so I didn't even attempt to get in the saddle and test it out. I have a 14.1 Quarter Horse with a muscular build, and I purchased the "wide" saddle tree.

Quality: The quality of the materials is certainly good, but the tree construction destroys any quality of use.

Summary: Do not buy this saddle. If you still want to try one, make sure you have the leeway to try it out on your horse, have someone knowledgeable assess it, and make sure you can return it for a full refund. Also, don't buy a saddle from a dealer at a show! Once they leave town, they can blow you off without hurting their local reputation.
