Purchase: I decided to do the barefoot thing after 2 years of subsidizing my farrier's lifestyle. I bought my first pair of Easy Boots in 2004 to help the transition and for rocky terrain. I paid $74.00 for them.
Likes: I absolutely loved them. They fit well, wore well, and lasted over a year before we wore a hole in the toe.
I purchased the second pair of Easy Boots, the improved post 2005 model, buying the same size (size 2) for $76.00. When they arrived, they were quite a bit smaller than his hoof. His feet slowly expanded after removing the metal shoes, and his first pair of boots "grew" with his hoof. I exchanged for a larger size.
Dislikes: The fit was terrible. The first ride was an exercise in back tracking and identifying easy boots in the grass. I called customer service. The nice lady told me I had measured wrong (I hadn't). Then i never heard from the nice lady again. I had to buy the gaitors to hold them on. The fit is sloppy, and the gaitors are a magnet for stickers and burs.
Quality: The new boots were poorly constructed, the cable frayed and uneven. I found the "improvements" to post 2005 to be of minimal consequence. When the gaitors arrived, they were missing hardware, and I had to do some reconstructing myself. I shouldn't have had to anything with a new purchase.
Summary: I will never buy another Easy Boot. I think their sizing should have maybe twice as many increments. Customer service, although very nice did nothing but tell me i measured wrong.
