Purchase: I bought this breastplate special order from legacytack.com for about $135, but now Bit of Britain sells them also. I wanted an elastic breastplate with the "Y" shape instead of straight across the chest, and I wanted navy because that is one of my cross-country colors.
Likes: I LOVE this breastplate! It does the job beautifully as I have a narrow, long TB that definitely needs it. The leather is excellent Nunn Finer quality, and the elastic itself is of good quality and easy to clean. I've had it for about a year, using it at least 3-4 times a week, and there are really no signs of wear. I prefer the navy over the regular tan-colored breastplate because it doesn't stain as easily.
Dislikes: It comes with keepers for the excess strap after you fasten it to the saddle, but I lost them after about two uses because there's no way to keep them on without being extremely diligent and conscious of them. Can't really complain though, because I don't know how they would stay on and the breastplate remain highly adjustable. I just tuck the excess leather strap under the elastic.
Quality: High quality, durable elastic. Excellent leather that absorbs my leather balsam extremely well. I couldn't ask for a better product quality-wise.
Summary: Excellent buy! If this one ever wears out (which I doubt!!), I'll buy another one exactly like it. Great for eventing - I use it stadium and XC and get compliments at every event.
