Purchase: I bought these at Calabasas Saddlery in California in 1989, for about $20. My thoroughbred hunter needed some leg protection, and these fit the bill nicely.
Likes: I bought them in 1989 - need I say more???? These have had some HARD use, but the gel padding is still intact, the stitching is still perfect, the velcro still works, and the neoprene still looks great. I think they've even gotten better with age, as the velcro straps soften after a while, and are easier to work with. NO boot will give true support, so no point getting a really stiff one, but this one has good moderate stretch to the neoprene, while protecting the leg and being so easy to care for.
Dislikes: Nothing. Especially for the price, this is an AWESOME boot.
Quality: If they have lasted this long, the construction and quality must be good. The only damage has been from a REALLY badly taken jump, which has ripped a small bit of neoprene loose on the surface, in a tiny little L-shaped rip. This was many years ago, and the rip has not spread or gotten any worse. It's only a surface blemish, and can hardly be seen. From so many years' use, the edges are very slightly frayed, but again this is almost invisible.
Summary: An excellent boot, available in many nice colours, well-made and great value for the money.
