Purchase: I bought my 2 Wintec dressage saddles used & like them both. Neither says more than Bates & Wintec so models unknown, but are dressage. They are the same except one has mostly equi-suede and the other is a black cloth w/a little equileather. Paid $200 for the first one & $250 for the 2nd...both purchased 'used'.
Likes: I first had an older a/p Wintec and liked its stick-to-it'ism for a bucking horse I had....it eventually cracked too much to ride in. Now I use the dressage saddles to break & train my youngsters. Like the lightweight & easy care & seems to fit my 2 TBs & my 1 WB youngster fine. I also have a leather close contact but rarely jump now so use the Wintecs. Love them!
Dislikes: My first Wintec was an a/p and did crack on the Equileather but it was a few years old and had plenty of useful years. It is still usable, but the cracked material is uncomfortable so I use it as the 'first saddle' to ever put on a young horse's back. It doesn't matter if the youngster bucks, rolls or goes over on it. But I have no complaints about the 2 newer Wintec dressage saddles.
Quality: I think the construction and quality is fine for affordable saddles. I've not managed to break any trees or tear the equisuede or cloth fabrics yet. In fact, I wish synthetic saddles were widely accepted in shows as I think they are safer as easier to break in & grip and lightweight on a young horse or for jumping.
Summary: I'm a repeat Wintec buyer as have been pleased with the good value of Wintecs. I like the quality, the affordability and the ease of care as well as the comfort and good grip of the Wintec saddles I've owned.
